Federal Police – General Judicial Directorate

Work Environment

The Federal Judicial Police is a specialized police force, mainly responsible for combating organized crime in all its forms. It is one of the three general directorates of the federal police and focuses on investigation files related to areas such as cybercrime, terrorism, major crime, drug trafficking, and many others. It provides support and expertise to the entire integrated police force, as well as to its national and international partners.

Within this directorate, there are operational resources assigned to judicial police operations, the fight against serious and organized crime, special units, as well as technical and scientific police operations.

Your main function will be to implement a service catalog that securely provides a set of authentic police data sources of the "Legacy" type. The objective of this service catalog is to enable easy integration of these data sources into various solutions such as:

• A dashboard allowing consultation of indicators to determine whether a company may potentially be conducting fraudulent activities
• An internal solution enabling the determination of workload indicators for staff members in order to establish situation reports and forecast reports, allowing, among other things, to determine priorities from a human resources capacity perspective
• A CMS (Case Management System) platform solution in the form of a web solution, to meet a critical operational need in terms of international police cooperation

Subsequently, your role may evolve into a position within the project team responsible for the CMS (Case Management System) solution. This new solution is based on the most modern web application technologies, with a technological foundation relying on a microservices architecture, micro frontends, containerization, and is highly available and scalable. The whole will be developed according to agile methods, specifically Scrum.

Main Missions

As part of your mission to implement the service catalog, your responsibilities will be as follows:

• You will first become familiar with the existing setup in order to propose technical solutions to meet the need.
• Next, you will implement the solution that enables the integration and encapsulation of data sources into a modern, service-oriented solution.
• If your role evolves into a position within the CMS team, you will be expected to:
• Participate in the implementation of MicroServices, setting up internal communication (between MicroServices) as well as with external systems.
• Contribute to the implementation of user interfaces following a MicroFrontend approach, and ensure communication with the MicroServices.
• Implement unit tests and integration tests, both on the Backend and Frontend sides.
• Integrate the designs provided by the UX/UI Designer into the user interfaces.
• Version your source code, generate pull requests, and conduct code reviews of your colleagues before integrating into the main branch.
• Model the database using a "code first" approach and carry out necessary migrations.
• Set up deployment pipelines for applications and services.
• Implement infrastructure deployment pipelines (IaC).
• Work in an agile manner, focusing on planned tasks and meeting deadlines.

Profile Sought

You hold at least a bachelor’s degree in computer science and have several years of experience in a similar role.

You have solid knowledge of .NET (C#), applied to the implementation of microservices. You are also capable of installing and configuring a database (PostgreSQL), as well as managing connections via Entity Framework, using a “code first” approach.

You are able to design and implement REST or gRPC APIs, and deploy an event-driven architecture using message brokers such as RabbitMQ.

You know how to develop a SPA web application according to a Micro-Frontend architecture, using Angular and Module Federation.

You master authentication mechanisms via OpenID Connect and O365, for both backend services and frontend applications.

You have proven experience in CI/CD and setting up deployment pipelines with GitLab or Argo CD. You master GIT and are familiar with the concepts of branches, pull requests, and code reviews.

You are used to working in an agile environment, according to the Scrum methodology, and are capable of quickly adapting to a change in technical direction during the project, or even to a technology with which you are not yet familiar. You are perseverant, solution-oriented, and easily integrate into a team with diverse profiles and experience.

You are fluent in English, as well as one of the two national languages. Active knowledge of one national language and at least passive knowledge of the other is a real asset.

Knowledge of the Police environment, and more specifically of the Federal Judicial Police, is an important asset.

Knowledge in security and cryptography is also a plus.
